The Spring Choral Concert will be presented on Sunday, May 20, 2018, at 3:00 P.M. Concert Choir, Mixed Chorale, TA Singers and Chamber Singers will all perform. We will even have special instrumental music from one student. Some of the pieces include "Light of a Clear Blue Morning," "Climb Every Mountain," "Ob-la-di Ob-la-da" and many more. Come hear an hours worth of fantastic music for FREE! Students love to see you there supporting all their hard work!
The TAHS Choral Department had a big day Saturday. Three groups performed at Harrisonburg High School for State Assessments. Mixed Chorale received an overall 2 (excellent) with a perfect sight reading score. TA Singers and Chamber Singers received straight 1's (superior) with perfect sight reading scores.
TA FACT: Did you know that the past two years TA has had the most students make District Choir out of our entire district? Our music district includes 19 different private/public schools.
Statistic: Students have better SAT scores. Studies have shown that students, who have a music education, score higher on the SATs. Some reports indicate the scores are as much as 63 points on the verbal portion and up to 44 points on the math portion.
District Choir Auditions were held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. There are 19 schools in our district that all send students for auditions. Turner Ashby High School had 33 students make district choir and 3 alternates (names listed below) TA had the most students make it into District Choir with the next highest school only having 26 make it. The concert will be Saturday, January 20, 2018. at Stuarts Draft High School. Congratulations students!
