FBLA was represented Saturday at the regional conference by Ammara Sheikh, Neshua Mirawdali, Karenell Johnson and Grace Mowery. Chesney Whitmore placed 1st in Introduction to Financial Math and Grace Mowery placed 1st in Introduction to Business Communication. Grace and Chesney are eligible to compete in state competition in April.

Congratulations to the DECA Competition team for their hard work at the Virginia State Leadership conference in Virginia Beach over the weekend. Patrick Ritchie was a finalist in the Marketing Communications event and Claire Dirks and Madeline Hall were finalists in the Advertising Campaign event. These students will complete at the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, at the end of April. Wish them luck. Go DECA Knights!
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will have a very special group meeting tomorrow. We will have Brad Huddleston come in as our guest speaker. Mr. Huddleston has degrees in both Computer Science and Neuroscience and will be talking about the dangers of digital addition in our digital world. We will be meeting tomorrow at 7:15 a.m. in the lecture room. You don’t want to miss this amazing speaker!
Congratulations to the FFA members that competed at the Federation Event last night at Broadway. The Parliamentary Procedure Team consisting of Clayton Armstrong, Kendall Knicely, Paul Craun, Shelvin Arey, Jacob Craun and Bonnie Rhodes placed first! Kendall Knicely also placed 1st in Extemporaneous Public Speaking. Loren Satterwhite placed 1st in Creed Speaking and Tyler Simmers placed 2nd in Small Engine Troubleshooting. Great job everyone!
For this Christmas, Tri-M will be holding a canned food drive. Tri-M members are encouraged to bring in canned food items to our club meeting on Wednesday. Students are also encouraged to participate in the drive and can bring items to Mr. Dunlap's room 102. The drive will continue until December 18.
Attention FFA members who sold fruit: pickup time for fruit has changed due to circumstances beyond our control. The fruit will arrive tomorrow (11/30) and will be available for pick-up starting at noon tomorrow. We will stay until 8 o’clock tomorrow evening. Fruit can also be picked up on Friday (12/1) until 4:30. If there are questions or issues with picking up fruit please see an FFA advisor.
On Friday, November 10, 2017, members of Turner Ashby DECA competed at the district leadership conference at the Valley Mall. Everyone did a great job and represented TA in a professional manner! Hannah Hirtriter won two 1st place medals- one in retail marketing and the other in Business Service marketing. Patrick Ritchie scored a hat-trick and won all three of his events. He placed first in marketing communications, accounting applications and human resources. Next DECA will compete at the state leadership conference in Virginia Beach in March. Way to go TA DECA!
The Turner Ashby FCCLA invites you to participate in the 2017 Jingle Bell Dash. This is a festive 1.5 mile run through the Bridgewater Foods Christmas Parade and supports students attending upcoming FCCLA state and national events.
