FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team

A huge congratulations to the FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team that won the state contest on Saturday, February 16, 2019! The following members will now represent TA FFA at Nationals in October: Shelvin Arey, Paul Craun, Jacob Craun, Matt Williams, Bonnie Rhodes, Rachel Craun and Madison Nelson. A job well done on your victory. We are so proud of you! 

Boys' and Girl's Swim Team in Regional Competition

The TA Boys' and Girls' Swim Team had ten swimmers compete at the Regional Meet on Friday, February 8, 2019. Grayson Blye qualified in the 50 Freestyle and the Boys' 200 Freestyle Relay of Jack Sellers, Brett Heatwole, Seth Furry and Grayson Blye.  He also qualified for the State Swim Meet by swimming a state cut. Also representing TA, were Aldo Heredia, Ally Eberly, Mycala Kiracofe, Ally Adams, Emma Burkholder, and Gillian Hedrick. Overall, everyone swam great and dropped time in their events. 

Forensics Team at Regional Tournament

The Forensics team had a great showing at Saturday’s (2/5/19) Regional Tournament, with the Knights finishing second overall. Leading the way were Region Champions Emily Villacrusis in Humorous Interpretation and Ian Phillips in Prose Interpretation. Also medaling were Abby Villacrusis, 2nd in Storytelling, and Ben Neher, 3rd in Extemporaneous Speaking.  All four of them advance to the Super Regionals on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Asher Davis and Evan Gillette finished 4th in Humorous Duo and will be alternates for the Super Region. Joe Blanton rounded out the team scoring, placing 6th in Prose. Great job by the entire team! 

Indoor Track In District Competition

Congratulations to the boys' indoor track team for finishing 1st in the district championship and the girls' team for finishing 3rd. District champions include Grant Swinehart, Sam Quesenberry, Will Eckard, Jeremy Christian and Jerralee Testa. 

Swim Team in District Competition

The TA boys' Swim Team placed 4th at the District Swim Meet yesterday and the girls' team placed 5th.  The following students are All-District and Regional Qualifying swimmers:
  • Jack Sellers 3rd in the 200 Free
  • Seth Furry 3rd in the 200 IM
  • Grayson Blye 2nd in the 50 Free, 3rd in the 200 Medley Relay - Sellers, Brett Heatwole, Furry, and Blye, and 2nd in the 200 Free Relay- Sellers, Heatwole, Furry, and Blye.

​Qualifying for regionals by placement for the Boys' Team were the following: 
  • Aldo Hetedia and Brett Heatwole in the 100 Fly
  • Grayson Blye in the 100 Free
  • Jack Sellers in the 100 Backstroke
  • Seth Furry and Brett Heatwole in the 100 Breaststroke.

Qualifying for Regionals for the Girls' Team were the following students:
  • Emma Burkholder in the 200 Free
  • Ally Eberly in the 100 Fly
  • Ally Adams in the 100 Free
  • Mycala Kiracofe in the 500 Free and 100 Breaststroke
  • the 200 Medley Relay Team - Burkholder, Kiracofe, Eberly, and Gillian Hedrick
  • the 200 Free Relay Team - Burkholder, Adams, Hedrick, and Eberly
  • the 400 Free Relay Team - Eberly, Hedrick, Adams, and Kiracofe. 

Scholastic Bowl Team Moves on to Regional Competition

Congratulations to the Scholastic Bowl teams on their performance at their final regular competition for the season, A team was 2-1 and B team was 1- 2. The A Team will be going to the regional competition on February 2. Good luck team! 

ShenVaFL Champions Tournament

The forensics and debates teams wrapped up the ShenVaFL season with a fine showing at the Champions Tournament on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Top finishers included:
  • Emily Villacrusis, 1st in Humorous Interpretation
  • Rachel Craun, 2nd in Original Oratory
  • Allison Miller, 2nd in Student Congress 
  • Barrett Gay & Seth Stapel, 4th in Policy Debate 
  • Asher Davis & Evan Gillette, 4th in Humorous Duo
  • Neha Jamarkattel, 6th in Dramatic Interpretation.
Congratulations to everyone for a great season! 

Five Knights Will Spots in All State Choir

Congratulations to the following TAHS students for making All State Choir!  One hundred and twenty-six (126) students auditioned for twenty-four (24) spots available in our district. TA students filled five (5) of those spots and had one alternate!  This was the  most from any school in the district.
