Congratulations to all the students who were selected to the Harrisonburg City - Rockingham County Honors Band. Turner Ashby High School had thirteen (13) students selected:
On Tuesday, November 6, 2018, Turner Ashby participated in District Choir Auditions at Broadway High School. Over 350 students auditioned from the district. TA had 34 students make it and 4 alternates. This was the most in the district with the next biggest school having 21 students. If you see one of these students give them a congratulations!
Last Friday, November 9, TA DECA broke several records at the District Leadership Conference including having the largest chapter at the competition and proudly bringing home 15 1st place medals! Congratulations to 1st place medalists: Aaron Young, Ben Yoder, Jordan Brittle, Gracie Moyers, Hannah Lovinger, Kyle Stephenson, Avery Andrews, Sammie Krysiewicz & Jennifer Roth. Double medalists were Will Childs, Hannah Hirtriter & Tori Moats. Good luck to TA DECA as they prepare for competition at the State Leadership Conference in March.
Congratulations to the FFA Forestry teams at yesterday’s competition! The senior team of Paul Craun, Jacob Craun, Shelvin Arey and Grant Pennybacker placed 2nd and advance to the area contest. Josh Payne placed 2nd individually in the Junior Contest. The Senior Contest placement was as follows: Shelvin 10th, Grant 8th and Paul 3rd.
Congratulations to the one act play team for their performance and awards at the Virginia Theatre Association Festival in Norfolk this past weekend.

The Turner Ashby FFA chapter attended the 91st National FFA Convention & Expo this past week in Indianapolis. A job well done to all students that competed and assisted with National Courtesy Corps.

Congratulations to the Marching Knights for an incredible finish to their competition season. The band received a Superior, or 1 rating at the state marching assessments Saturday morning. That evening the Marching Knights competed at the Powhatan Fall Classic and finished 2nd overall and received caption awards for 2nd in music, 2nd in visual, 2nd in general effect and 3rd in guard. The Marching Knights finish the season with 13 awards. Great Job!
At the VHSL Championships on Saturday, October 20, 2018, the yearbook staff was awarded its 14th consecutive Trophy Class State Championship!
In addition, the book’s theme “The Power in You” was named the first place theme (another state championship) in all of Virginia.
