Pictures of the project
Turner Ashby High School students participated in a service project to rebuild the Ottobine Elementary School Playground. (See link to a few pictures is above.) These students worked hard the first day, and endured a heavy, cold rain for hours the second day. Please pay special attention to the first seven students listed. They joined us on Tuesday over Spring Break to work a full day with us simply because they wanted to finish the job.
As you can see from the pictures, we replaced a large portion of the splintered wood with new lumber. Our goal was to improve the integrity of the structure, and limit the amount of splinters children were getting while playing. You may also notice a chainsaw carved Ottobine otter provided by Mr. Hanifee.
It was a very rewarding experience for the adults and for the students.
Congratulations to the Forensics Team which finished fourth at the VHSL State Tournament this past Saturday. Ian Phillips placed 2nd in Prose, Emily Villacrusis took 2nd in Humorous Interpretation, Ben Neher was 3rd in Extemporaneous Speaking and Abby Villacrusis was 4th in Storytelling. A special congratulations to seniors Ian, Emily and Ben; over the past three years, they have combined for eight State Tournament appearances, resulting in one 1st place finish, six 2nd places and one 3rd.
