Boys' Soccer lost a tough 2-0 match to Liberty in the first round of the Region C tournament. TA finished the year with an 8-9-2 record. Great work this year from our players and coaches!
Congratulations to the boys' track team for a 2nd place finish and to the girls' track team for their 3rd place finish yesterday at the Region 3C track meet. Individual Region champions include the following team members: Ellie Miller – discus, Zach Gery – shot put, Austin Buzzard – 300 meter hurdles. The girls' tennis team has penciled itself into the TA history books once again. For the first time, in school history, the team earned a bid to the State Tennis Tournament! They advanced to the Regional Finals by crushing Fort Defiance, 5-1. Battling for singles victories were Malena Hoover, Carter Young, Valeria Santos and Grace Pierantoni. Sealing the deal, with their doubles finesse, were Carter and Rachel Showalter although Val and Grace were ready to also finalize the match! Regional Finals are today at 1 p.m. here at home.
The girls’ tennis team returned from a two week break from tennis and left off where it started by dismantling Spotswood 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the Regional playoffs. Solid singles’ victories were had by Malena Hoover, Rachel Showalter, Carter Young, Valeria Santos and Grace Pierantoni. This is the first TA team victory in Regional play for over 30 years, if not ever! Next up is Fort Defiance on Wednesday at home for the Regional Semi-Finals to determine a trip to the State tournament.
Congratulations to the Debate team which competed at Regionals on Saturday. The Policy team of Brooks Pollard and Ben Neher finished first, and Ben was recognized as the Outstanding Speaker in Policy. The team of Ellie Miller and Danielle Cave finished second in Policy. Joining them at the Super Regionals will be Allison Miller and Wyatt Smith, who both qualified in Student Congress, while Kyle Evick earned a spot as an alternate. As a team, TA finished second in the Region. Great work by everyone who competed!
Congratulations to the Turner Ashby High School Destination Imagination team, "Destination Standing Ovation" for placing 1st at the regional tournament on March 3 in Winchester. They have earned the opportunity to compete in the State DI tournament in Richmond on March 24. Team members are Reilly Breeden, Erin Batten, Logan Breeden and Jack Breeden.
FBLA was represented Saturday at the regional conference by Ammara Sheikh, Neshua Mirawdali, Karenell Johnson and Grace Mowery. Chesney Whitmore placed 1st in Introduction to Financial Math and Grace Mowery placed 1st in Introduction to Business Communication. Grace and Chesney are eligible to compete in state competition in April.

The forensics team had a fine showing at the VHSL Region tournament on Saturday. The Knights were led by medalists Emily Villacrusis, who placed 1st in Humorous Interpretation, Ben Neher, who took 2nd in Extemporaneous Speaking, and Ian Phillips, who was 3rd in Prose Interpretation. They advance to the Super Region tournament this weekend. Qualifying as alternates for the Super Region were: Wyatt Smith, 4th in Extemp; Barrett Gay, 5th in Original Oratory; and Savannah Fife and Neha Jamarkattel, 5th in Serious Duo. Additionally, Abby Villacrusis placed 6th in Humorous Interp. Great job by everyone on the team!
