The forensics team had a fine showing at the VHSL Region tournament on Saturday. The Knights were led by medalists Emily Villacrusis, who placed 1st in Humorous Interpretation, Ben Neher, who took 2nd in Extemporaneous Speaking, and Ian Phillips, who was 3rd in Prose Interpretation. They advance to the Super Region tournament this weekend. Qualifying as alternates for the Super Region were: Wyatt Smith, 4th in Extemp; Barrett Gay, 5th in Original Oratory; and Savannah Fife and Neha Jamarkattel, 5th in Serious Duo. Additionally, Abby Villacrusis placed 6th in Humorous Interp. Great job by everyone on the team!
Indoor Track competed at the Region C Championships on Monday, February 12. Congratulations to Sam Quesenberry who finished 1st in the 300m! Also placing in the top 3 for the Knights were Sarah Phillips (3rd-High Jump) (2nd-Long Jump), Jeremy Christian (2nd-Long Jump) (3rd-Triple Jump), Zach Gery (2nd-Shot), and the Boys 4x200 Relay (2nd).
The TAHS Wrestling team was back on the mats Saturday competing at the Regional Championships. The Knights finished 5th as a team led by Patrick Sullivan (120 lbs), and Trey Hoover (138 lbs) who captured individual titles in their respective weight classes. Five Knights advanced to the State Tournament next weekend at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Virginia.
The TAHS Swim and Dive team competed at the Region C Championships on Friday and Saturday. Our Boys program finished tied for 4th as a team. Several outstanding performances were turned in by members of the team. Cathryn Sweigart (100m Breast) and Justin Lough (100m Free) both captured individual titles along with our Boys 200m Free relay team. Both the Girls and Boys will be represented in Richmond next Friday for the State meet. Good luck Knights!
Congratulations to the One Act Play team and the company of Peter/Wendy for earning 1st place at the regional meet on Saturday. They are going to the state meet on December 5! Also congratulations to Gino Stickley for earning one of the 8 acting awards granted at regionals. Please try to see a performance of the play before they go to state!
Last Saturday we hosted the Regional Debate tournament, and Turner Ashby came in first place!
That was three first place wins out of four categories! Eleven students will move on to States on the 22nd and 23rd of April.
