Girls' Tennis concluded their season with a 5-0 loss to Cave Spring in the State quarterfinals. The Knights enjoyed a historically successful season this year, finishing 19-3. Thank you to the players and their coach for their effort and determination throughout the season!
Congratulations to the following TSA members who were semi-finalists in Virginia TSA state competition this past weekend in Hampton: Madelynn Ritchie, Loren Satterwhite, Rafael Lopez, Ezra Kasten, Joe Satterwhite, Elsa Wadelich, Grant King, Charles Britt, Austin Moody, Preston Striebig, Gavin Anderson, Nalen Ramos, Layne Auville, Brendan Parsley, Ian Phillips, Luke Mowery, Jonathan Reichard, Elliott Rheault, Nick Stockner, Aidan Parsley, Canten Arey, Jenny Heatwole, Daniel Alumbaugh. Turner Ashby placed 3rd overall in state competition this year.
Congratulations to Ellie Miller, Danielle Cave, and Allsion Miller who competed at the VHSL State Debate Tournament against Class 1, 2, 3 and 4 schools this past weekend. Danielle and Ellie finished top 5 in the state in Policy Debate, including a win against eventual runner- up Dominion and a narrow 2 point loss to state champion Woodgrove. Allison’s top 10 finish in Student Congress included serving as Presiding Officer for one of the four sessions. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to another successful debate season!
Congratulations to the members of the forensics team who competed at the State Tournament over spring break. Emily Villacrusis finished 2nd in Humorous Interpretation, Ben Neher was 2nd in Extemporaneous Speaking, and Ian Phillips was 2nd in Prose Interpretation. Overall, the team tied for 3rd in the state. It was a fine ending to a terrific season.
Congratulations to the students who participated in the Virginia National Archery in Schools Program State Tournament in Doswell this past weekend. High scorer was Amy Mills with a score of 268. Amy also placed 16th in the state Bullseye competition with a 277 out of 300! Nathaniel Knight had a score of 246, Montana Tingler scored 211, Constance Turner scored 198, Katie Zubov and Lura Gurth both scored 192, Hunter Davisscored 178, Michael Frazier scored 127, Tiffani Wehr scored 93, and M.J. Dandridge’s scored 77. Great Job, everyone!
Congratulations to the DECA Competition team for their hard work at the Virginia State Leadership conference in Virginia Beach over the weekend. Patrick Ritchie was a finalist in the Marketing Communications event and Claire Dirks and Madeline Hall were finalists in the Advertising Campaign event. These students will complete at the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, at the end of April. Wish them luck. Go DECA Knights!
Wrestling finished their season with the VHSL State Championships in Chesapeake on Saturday. The Knights were led by Jessie Knight who placed 3rd in the Heavyweight division. Trey Hoover finished 4th at 138 pounds and Patrick Sullivan was 5th at 120 pounds to also earn All State honors for the season. Good work Knights!
The TA Dive program was in action at the VHSL State Championships in Richmond on Friday night.
Canten Arey finished 3rd overall to lead the team. Seth Dye place 6th to give the Knights two All State Divers for the season. Congratulations!
Our Swim programs competed at the VHSL State Championships in Richmond on Saturday. Justin Lough was All State in two individual events (3rd 100 Free) (6th 50 Free) and was also a part of our 4x200 Free Relay team (4th). The other members of our All State Relay team were Elliot Rheault, Ezra Kasten, and Seth Furry. Cathryn Sweigart also earned All State status by placing 5th in the 100 Breast. Great job to all of these Knights for their accomplishments!
