Wrestling finished their season with the VHSL State Championships in Chesapeake on Saturday. The Knights were led by Jessie Knight who placed 3rd in the Heavyweight division. Trey Hoover finished 4th at 138 pounds and Patrick Sullivan was 5th at 120 pounds to also earn All State honors for the season. Good work Knights!
The TAHS Wrestling team was back on the mats Saturday competing at the Regional Championships. The Knights finished 5th as a team led by Patrick Sullivan (120 lbs), and Trey Hoover (138 lbs) who captured individual titles in their respective weight classes. Five Knights advanced to the State Tournament next weekend at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Virginia.
The TAJS Wrestling team competed at the Valley District Championships on Saturday. The Knights finished 2nd as a team led by Payton Jackson (106 lb.), Patrick Sullivan (120 lb.), and Trey Hoover (138 lb.) who captured individual titles in their respective weight classes. All 10 TA wrestlers qualified for Regionals next weekend at Western Albemarle High School.
The TAHS Wrestling program finished their regular season with dual meet victories over Spotswood and Harrisonburg on Wednesday night. In their match against Spotswood the Knights rallied from a 36-6 deficit to win 42-36. The deciding victory came when sophomore CJ Haskins won by fall at 145 pounds. The Knights finished the regular season with an 8-3 dual meet record. The Knights host the Valley District Championship Tournament on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
The TAHS Wrestling program traveled to Chesapeake to compete at a tournament at Great Bridge High School. The team was led by 2nd place finishes from junior Trey Hoover (138) and sophomore Jesse Knight (285). Patrick Sullivan (3rd @120), Zane Evans (3rd @220), and Grant Weaver (4th @160) were also place winners for TA at this tough event.
The Wrestling program had a busy week! On Wednesday they defeated Waynesboro in dual action. Then they hosted their 16th annual Holiday Wrestling Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Twenty teams from across the state competed. Trey Hoover (2nd at 138 pounds) and Zane Evans (4th at 220 pounds) led the Knights at the event.
