Directions to Turner Ashby High School

  • From I-81, take Exit 240 (Bridgewater).

  • Proceed on Rt. 257 3.4 miles west to the Town of Bridgewater.

  • At the stoplight of Rt. 257 and Main Street, take a right turn.

  • Proceed north on Main Street (Rt. 42) 1.3 miles.

  • Turner Ashby High School is on the right at the last stoplight in Bridgewater. (John Wayland Elementary School is on the left at the light.)

School Mission Statement

It is the goal of the Turner Ashby High School Improvement Committee to serve Turner Ashby High School by:

  • creating and maintaining an environment that allows opportunities for all students to work to their potential;

  • preparing all students fully to enter the work force or college;

  • recognizing that everyone learns in different ways and preparing our faculty to implement lessons and activities that reflect various learning styles.

Best High Schools U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News and World Report Best High Schools

Turner Ashby High School has been named one of the Best High Schools for 2019 by U.S. News and World Report's Best High School list. We were ranked #84 out of all the high schools in the state of Virginia. This is the eighth time Turner Ashby High School has achieved recognition in U.S. News and World Report's rankings: 2007, 2008, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.

All four high schools in Rockingham County were ranked among the best high schools in the state and in the country. Spotswood High School was #49, East Rockingham was #87, and Broadway High School was #105 in the state of Virginia.

Less than 30% of the schools in the country earned the right to be called Best High Schools. U.S. News and World Report recognition is widely considered a sign of excellence in education.
